Cancellation measures genuinely effective on low-frequency drone and essentially stops working above about 1 kHz, and the passive seal that should cover the rest is the weakest-scoring part of the headset. So a home office full of fan and AC hum goes quiet, and a street full of voices and traffic transients does not.

SoundGuys scores the two halves separately and the gap is the story: Active Noise Cancelling 7.4/10 against Isolation / Attenuation 4.9/10 — the electronics are doing the work and the seal is not backing them up. TechPowerUp, testing ANC on against ANC off, finds that past about 1 kHz "there's not much of a difference between ANC and blocking external sounds passively by using the closed-back nature of the ear cups." RTINGS, which grades full-range attenuation, ranks it behind the Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless.

Listeners sensitive to the peak hear sibilance and piercing cymbals; listeners responding to the dip and the roll-off hear a top end that needs lifting; one hears the whole thing as simply detailed. Nearly everyone who measured it recommends EQ.

TechPowerUp (miniDSP EARS with REW and HEQ compensation) reports "a boosted treble with a substantial 8 kHz peak"; SoundGuys' own rig reports "The narrow 8kHz peak, and high-end roll-off beginning around 10kHz". TechPowerUp advises against trying to flatten the peak away — "don't bother trying to completely smooth out the 8 kHz peak. You'll end up with a sound that's muffled and unappealing" — and points EQ effort at the 4 kHz dip instead.
⚠ vs. listeners — RTINGS files Treble Amount as "Slightly Underemphasized (-2 dB)" and the signature as "Warm", which reads as a flat contradiction of TechPowerUp's "boosted treble" until you notice they are weighting different parts of one curve: a narrow spike raises the peak, a neighbouring dip and a roll-off lower the average. TechPowerUp says so itself, warning that "my results aren't directly comparable to anyone else's, as only an identical methodology conducted on my exact sample of the miniDSP EARS would yield directly comparable results."

Consistently rated a strength, with an important caveat the measurements supply: a good part of the impression comes from the 8 kHz peak, which is the same feature that makes the headset sibilant for treble-sensitive listeners.
