21 IEC-711-class rigs agree to within a decibel up to 4 kHz: a +6.5 dB sub-bass shelf over the lower mids, an ear-gain peak of +8.3 dB at 3 kHz, and a treble that falls to +3 dB by 6 kHz and below the mids by 10 kHz. Against Harman IE 2019 it sits under the target everywhere — about −2.5 dB at 20 Hz, −2.5 to −3.5 dB from 2 to 5 kHz and −5 dB at 6 kHz. Against the SuperMix 4 on twelve shared rigs it has 4.4 dB less at 20 Hz, ~3 dB less at 2–2.5 kHz, 2–3 dB less from 5 to 8 kHz and 6–9 dB less above 12 kHz.
Broadly praised for quality — fast, tight, textured, and with a tactile 'felt' quality most credit to the bone-conduction driver — and broadly agreed to be modest in quantity: controlled, sub-bass-led, not for bassheads. Two fringes disagree on how much there is: a bassy-sounding minority (THL calls it nearly basshead) and a light-sounding one that finds the mid-bass vanilla and reaches for EQ. ⚠ vs. listeners — The graphs put it firmly in the 'restrained' camp — there is simply less bass here than in the SM4 or the target. The 'nearly basshead' readings describe the bone-conduction driver's tactile contribution, which a coupler cannot see and which depends entirely on shell contact; the 'too light' readings mostly come from listeners using the stock tips or a deep insertion, where that contribution is weakest.
Sources split: most call the midrange the star — forward, natural, full-voiced and tactile, with male vocals that no longer sound thin as they did on the SM4 — while a solid minority hear it as clean but lean: thin lower mids and light baritones, a touch cold or dry, with an upper-mid that can turn spicy at volume.
