Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a Japanese piano maker founded in Hamamatsu in August 1927 by Koichi Kawai, one of the engineers behind Japan's first domestically built piano. Alongside its acoustic grands and uprights it builds digital pianos, the Concert Artist and MP stage lines, and the VPC1 virtual piano controller, and it is known for wooden-key hammer actions such as RM3 Grand II and Grand Feel.
