Chord Electronics
Chord Electronics is a British high-end audio manufacturer founded in 1989 by John Franks, who brought aviation-electronics engineering into hi-fi amplifier design; its equipment has been used by the BBC, Abbey Road Studios and Skywalker Sound. Since Rob Watts joined in the late 1990s the company has built its digital-to-analogue converters on custom-coded FPGAs rather than off-the-shelf DAC chips, a line that runs from the pocket-sized Mojo up to the DAVE.
