Not in dispute: nobody calls it underpowered. Amir measured 1.1 W into 33 Ω and 268 mW into 300 Ω on the standard unit and called both excellent, with no clipping at 300 Ω and an output impedance near zero; his only shortfall was the notoriously hungry Dan Clark Stealth, which ran out of gain at maximum. JDS's bench gives 1.3 W standard and 2.3 W Boosted into 32 Ω, 584 mW into 150 Ω and 146 mW into 600 Ω. Reviewers drove HD 800 S, Edition XS, Arya, ZMF Caldera, 600 Ω DT 990s and 13 Ω Dan Clarks without complaint; Scientific Audiophile found it would go louder into his Dan Clarks than an RME ADI-2 before distorting. The one live question is the $49 Boosted option. About three-quarters of the weight says the standard unit is enough — Headfonia, HiFiHeadphones and WaveTheory reserve Boosted for HE6/Susvara-class planars, and owners on Reddit and JDS's own store (several of them Boosted owners) report never leaving low gain even with an HD 800 S or Arya. The remaining quarter — Audiophile-Heaven, and Ear Fidelity, who felt demanding planars lose punch on the standard unit — says buy it anyway.

Manufacturer (APx555): 1.3 W (6.43 VRMS) standard or 2.3 W (8.68 VRMS) Boosted into 32 Ω, 584 mW into 150 Ω, 146 mW (9.37 VRMS) into 600 Ω, output impedance under 0.7 Ω, auto-toggling gain of 1.0× and 4.73× (+13.5 dB). Boosted is the same board 'assembled with quad output buffers' — two per channel — on the same ±15 V rails, so it adds current, not voltage swing, into low-impedance loads; into 150 Ω and above the two trims are rated identically.
