Roland Corporation is a Japanese electronic musical instrument maker founded in 1972 by Ikutaro Kakehashi in Osaka and now headquartered in Hamamatsu. It shaped modern music technology with the TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines, the TB-303 bass synth, the Jupiter and Juno synthesizers, and V-Drums, and — as a co-originator of the MIDI standard in the early 1980s — has a long line of digital pianos and MIDI keyboard controllers.
