The larger camp hears a big but controlled, snappy sub-woofer with little distortion; a nearly equal camp hears bloat that reaches into the lower mids and needs EQ; and one high-weight outlier reports the stock quantity itself as underwhelming — a report its own commenters attribute to fit. Seal, tips and source impedance move this set more than most.

Fourteen squig.link rigs agree to within ±0.5 dB below 1 kHz: relative to 500 Hz the shelf sits at +13.6 dB (20 Hz), +11.9 dB (60 Hz), +9.4 dB (100 Hz), and is still +5.1 dB at 200 Hz and +2.6 dB at 300 Hz — it only flattens around 500 Hz. Against Harman IE 2019 that is a further +4–5 dB from 40 to 200 Hz on top of Harman's own shelf.
⚠ vs. listeners — The graphs settle the quantity, not the verdict: the shelf that the 'controlled' camp hears as weight is the same 200–400 Hz tail the 'bloat' camp hears as mud. The lone 'not that bassy' report is not on any rig; the Legato is a shallow, vented fit, and a broken seal drops the sub-bass first.

A 6–7 kHz peak of about +8 dB over 500 Hz — roughly level with the ear-gain peak — then a dip near 12 kHz (−8 dB). The across-rig spread above 5 kHz is 1–3 dB, versus under 0.5 dB below 1 kHz, so the treble is the one band where the rigs themselves disagree.

Bass about 7 dB above the ear-gain peak where Harman IE 2019 puts it about 3 dB below — a 10 dB difference in tilt. Audio Amigo's second trace at a 15 Ω source leaves the bass untouched but takes 2 dB off 2.5 kHz and 7 dB off 10 kHz: a high-impedance dongle or Bluetooth adapter makes the Legato darker, which is the mechanism behind the many 'needs a proper source' reports.

Mostly positive with one constant caveat: the shell is thick, the nozzle long, and the whole thing protrudes from the ear. Most reviewers still wear it for hours without trouble; a minority with smaller ears, or who move around, find it slips or bulks. Tip choice changes the fit as much as the sound.
