Tonality
Contested · 17 srcSources split on the label: most hear a bright V- or U-shape whose energy lives up top, a minority a warm-neutral all-rounder. Both are describing the same measured curve.
Two independent rigs draw the same shape: a sub-bass shelf about +7 to +9 dB over the midrange level, mid-bass around +5 dB tucking back to +2 dB by 200 Hz, then a broad plateau of roughly +10 dB from 2.5 to 5.5 kHz that never dips after the usual pinna peak.
⚠ vs. listeners — The plateau is higher than the bass shelf, which is why most listeners call the set bright — but the shelf is genuinely large, which is why a minority hear it as warm-neutral. Nothing in the data forces either reading.
“Moving past the 5kHz mark, there is also quite a bit of presence in the upper treble, which does add air and brilliance to the sound but at the same time it sums up to the upper mids and 5k peak, putting a large emphasis on these ranges and making things come across as very bright.”

“Closer to neutral than anything with some shades of warmth, the Q5 has a breathable sound with air in the mix.”
